"sexanddrinking" is a departure from Wyckham's prevoius recordings, much in the same way each of his previous releases was a departure from the last. He still has the poignant lyrics. He still has the voice and edge. This time he has a band and the music includes ballads, rockers, mood pieces and roots rap. Producer Joe Chiccarelli (Oingo Boingo, Tori Amos, Poco) perhaps sums it up best when he observes "Everyone can relate to this album, even the most diehard country roots rock fans."
